ThinkZone is an award-winning social enterprise that works towards improving the educational outcomes of children from under-resourced communities using a 'tech plus touch' model and activity-based methodology. We do this by empowering community educators, school teachers, and public childcare workers to deliver quality early-childhood and primary grade education programs by following the Teaching-at-the-Right-Level approach (an MIT evidence-based pedagogy).
ThinkZone is currently implementing its education program across 400+ villages in 4 districts of Odisha. ThinkZone’s work has also led to an average 30% increase in the overall skills of the educators who have gone through 1 year of ThinkZone training and mentorship. Our innovative, asset-light ‘school-in-a-box’ based model is readily implementable in difficult to reach areas where the necessity of quality education interventions is absolutely necessary As we all know that, the rural hinterlands in developing countries still lack reliable internet access. Our operational model, the major part of which includes offline technology will help instructors to implement quality and effective education programs.
Our Fellowship model built specifically for women helps them to become skilled and earn a dignified livelihood in their own community. ThinkZone is also building a community enhancement model via technology wherein low-income families (mothers) are directly connected to us via an IVR based system, wherein they get weekly training calls about early childhood care and education (ECCE) modules which they can try with their kids. This will be the very few times in India where a localized tech-based pedagogy is being built for first-generation learners and for improving the skills of facilitators who come from a limited educational background.
