Lakshmipriya is a mother of two and her children are enrolled in the nearby government school. As a mother, Lakshmipriya always wanted to be a part of her children’s education. But she could not put herself forward thinking she is incapable of teaching her children because of her poor education background.
But after attending our parental workshops, she learned different ways to engage in learning of her children. But still was hesitant at first thinking how her children would react, but she decided to give it a try. She followed the suggestions of our education experts, and practiced the activities learned from the workshop. “I started with the story-telling method that didi (educator) suggested. I heard so many stories from my grandparents. I started telling those stories to children. After each story, I ask my children questions related to the story and sometimes ask them to tell me a story”, says Mrs. Lakshmipriya.
She appreciates us for providing continuous support through weekly visits. She desperately waits for the monthly workshop to learn even more methods of engaging with her children at home. Mrs. Lakshmipriya was overwhelmed with emotions during our last conversation quoting “Thank you for letting me gain self-confident and now I feel that I am fulfilling all the responsibilities that a parent should take to bring a positive change in their children’s life.”
