As a part of our celebration for Teacher’s Day, we asked teachers to share with us in a brief write-up – “What they loved about being a teacher?”. What we received was a number of teachers who shared their love for the profession and their ideas on education. This is worth a read!!
- The thing about teaching is, when you’re working to educate children you can see the positive effects on a daily basis – little things like helping a child overcome a problem or understand a tricky concept can suddenly become incredibly rewarding. Being able to have a laugh with the people you work with is a definite perk to any job. When working with young children the lack of predictability might be tricky at times, but it will certainly keep you on your toes. – Mallikarjun M R, Teacher, GHPS Kodathi, Bangalore
- Being a teacher comes with a lot of responsibilities. One of them is to be an agent to shape a better world by developing the minds of the new generation. It is a teacher’s responsibility to instill the values of discipline, modesty, and humility for children to grow up and be good citizens. I had a dream once but due to some issues in my family, I could never complete my education or my dreams, being a teacher I want to inspire my students to never give up on their dreams. - A person’s character is the backbone of his/her personality. As a teacher, I have the power to shape someone’s character and make my students the best version of themselves. - I realized that the students I try to inspire are the ones that end up inspiring me, I really wonder if I teach or I learn more. We as adults have grown for sure by age, but we have lost that innocence and the real us. The only way to bring that back according to me is by being around kids, letting them be the way they are. - There is no profession that does not begin from a teacher – be it a doctor or engineer. I like to teach children not just through textbooks but also in a way that they have the ability to utilize skills in their real life. - A teacher’s main motive should be to dedicate their service to building the nation. I like that I am a part of such an amazing profession. I want my students to have a unique place in society and I help them to be that. - My motivation for being a teacher is that I like being around children and I want to be their guide in learning. - A noble profession as teaching is a lifelong learning process. It gives me immense pleasure when I share my learning with others. The engagement with students in the process of teaching and learning keeps me enthusiastic in-spite of my growing age. - An ideal teacher is the one who can bring out the best of the capabilities of their students. I try to be like that, I teach my students the value of self-independence and being good citizens. - It has been my childhood dream to become a teacher because my own teachers have been inspirations in my life. I want to follow their path of spreading my knowledge and constantly learning as well. - I teach pre-primary and primary children. My focus has been to provide foundational learning which can help children in their future. I believe education is a powerful weapon to change the world and that is what I love about my profession. - I think teaching is one of the hardest jobs in the world because it is a huge responsibility. My responsibility is to make a difference in the lives of my students, to make them into good citizens. - Apart from making students learn, a teacher’s responsibility is also to make sure children understand basic concepts of like humanity, values, and ethics. Only through this can we contribute to the prosperity of the country and the formation of the society. - I am proud to say that I am a teacher. Because the teaching profession is a noble profession. In this profession, we can meet selfless people like children. The teacher is the only person who can create remaining all professions in the world. This job is also highly respectable everywhere. The teacher can inspire everyone to make them as perfect human beings. In society also each and everyone listens to the teacher’s voice. - In ancient scriptures, a guru or a teacher is considered to be before God. A teacher gives birth to everything and every profession – a doctor, a lawyer, or engineers. That is what I love being a teacher that being that I can shape a better world. - I have been teaching children for the last 12 years of my life. I don’t differentiate between extra-curricular and the usual courses. I think everything is connected in the practical world and hence I teach them in the way they want me to. I love my work because through this I can also teach children whose parents are not that financially well and can’t afford their education. - I try to be an ideal teacher every day. An ideal teacher is someone who has immense love for their students, someone who can make students into good citizens, teach them to be self-independent, bring out their best capabilities, and create a better next-generation. - A teacher can spread light and remove darkness from the lives of their students. Even small changes can bring big changes in the world which a teacher can easily do. - As a person I love challenges! If you think about it, then what is more challenging than developing a new generation of children who can change the future of this world. - The best part of being a teacher is that all professions start with a teacher. My students can become doctors, engineers, and teachers too and I am proud of that. - I believe that education is the key to the advancement of this society and the world. Education has always been an important thing for us in this country. - The thing I love about teaching is seeing the happiness in children’s faces when they learn a new thing. Whenever I am teaching I ensure that the session is fun and children also enjoy while learning new things. - I want to become a teacher because I want to serve my country and my village. I want to help every child in my village to be educated. A good teacher’s journey starts from being a good friend, I want to start there and become their guide, towards a better future. I want to help them understand things which I did not understand in my own childhood, to teach them in new and different ways. - I want to be a teacher because it is an opportunity to learn all life.
