Rinki, a 2021 fellow from Bhadrak, supported children’s learning in her area. Rinki is an aspiring teacher. Before joining any professional teaching course, she wanted to have experience in teaching children. So she joined the fellowship to have hands-on teaching experience.
When she started teaching children, she observed that children lacked basic skills like number recognition, addition, subtraction etc. She tried to communicate with their parents to understand the problems. She found out that the children belong to the fishing community, and their parents remain busy at work the whole day. And the children are also involved in their parent’s work. So they couldn’t give much time to children’s education.
After understanding the problem of the community, Rinki arranged several meetings and workshops for parents to devise plans to engage children in studies after school hours. She created different interesting educational games to create interest among children in the classroom. And after one month, children started showing interest in learning. She says, “if we use games as a medium to teach children, it makes classroom activity fun and engaging.”
Everyone who knows Rinki finds her inspiring. She is a shining example for youth in her area. Till now, Rinki has positively impacted the learnings of 60 children, and we are sure that as a future teacher, she will impact more lives of the children.
