Puspa: Embracing Change

Puspa is a mother of two who resides in a small village. Like some mothers, she also complained when she learned that the educator was carrying out games in the classroom because she didn’t believe that these games can help her child understand better. So, our educator arranged a Mothers’ Meet and invited all the mothers to attend the meeting. The nature of the meeting was different from the usual parents’ meeting. Mothers’ Meet included fun games, activities, stories etc. Puspa attended the meeting with low expectations. There were many activities conducted in the meeting, but the particular activity which gravitated her attention was teaching children about numbers, seasons, and days through poems. She was amazed to learn how a poem can teach so many concepts.

At home, she started practicing these activities with her children, and to her surprise, her children’s learning improved exponentially. She believes her children are more interested in learning at home than before. According to her, the only thing she missed as a parent was active participation in her child’s education, and now that she has done it, she believes that games have the power to make the learning easier for children.
