Subhasmita was an extremely shy and introverted girl. She struggled to make friends and found it difficult to speak up in class. Her parents were worried about her and sought help from our educator.

She had difficulty understanding the concepts and was also not very active in co-curricular activities. Our educator Kalpana noticed her struggles and decided to act. She provided personal attention during class, helping her to understand and learn new words.

Our educator noticed Sima being irregular to classes, not attentive in the lessons, staying away from friends, then she suddenly stopped coming to school. After speaking with the school teacher, the educator realised the issue and decided to talk with Sima’s parents…..

I go to fishing with my father every day. But when I return, I find didi (educator) at my home. She comes to my house every day after school. Every day she teaches me new concepts. I realized that even in fishing business, one needs to know counting and calculation.

He used to be inattentive in the classroom. He would not pay attention to his studies and would disrupt the class with his silly antics. His teachers and parents were very worried about his behavior and his studies.

Initially our morning assemblies felt boring. But Didi has made assembly more fun. She added various components to the assembly like quizzes, newspaper reading which is very amusing to do.

On a personal level, through continuous training, I am also learning various skills, different teaching methods and effective use of teaching-learning materials. With the tide of time, I am getting increasingly acquainted with this unique education ecosystem and evolving as a better teacher.

Raghab is a student who is enrolled in our learning enhancement program and lives in a Bengali prevalent migrant community but in his school, everybody communicates and learns in Odia language. As a result, most children from his community struggle to adapt to the school language. Like other children, Raghab also struggles with speaking, reading and writing in Odia…..

When you love something, you spend more time understanding the concepts. There is no need for too much memorization. So, love what you learn. That makes the difference.

ThinkZone’s initiative of social development through education inspired me the most to join the fellowship program. I like the process because it comes with a fresh approach to teaching kids, breaks the conventional student-teacher relationship, and most significantly focuses on understanding a child other than the marks
