Since 2021, Ekta embarked on a journey with the Empower Educator program, and alongside, she started her own learning center after teaming up with ThinkZone. Now, we all know teachers are usually there for the kids, but this story is about how the kids ended up being the driving force in an educator’s growth.
Fast forward to 2023, Ekta is running her learning center with around 60-70 children, coming in multiple batches. She’s gained a stellar reputation for her unique teaching style, which doesn’t rely on the usual textbooks. Instead, she engages the kids with hands-on activities, and unsurprisingly, the children love it. One day, fate took a turn in the local community school. A math teacher left, leaving the position wide open.
Despite numerous interviews, the school couldn’t find the right fit. Concerned about the gap in math classes, the children approached their class teacher, suggesting bringing in someone they knew – Ekta Didi.
Innocently, one child asked the school principal why they couldn’t invite Ekta didi to teach math. The principal, intrigued, inquired about who Ekta Didi was. The children happily shared that Ekta, also known as Sumita, used to be a student at their school and now runs a fantastic learning center. The principal saw potential and decided to give it a shot.
Here’s a well-known saying for the people, by the people. However, in my life, I’d like to put a unique spin on it – for me, it’s “for the children, by the children.” I can never stop thanking ThinkZone for the ongoing learning opportunities I have received. Also, the ThinkZone App continues to help me acquire knowledge every day.
Ekta Says….
The principal asked the kids to inform Ekta about the opportunity. That evening, as the students visited Ekta’s learning center, they excitedly told her everything. Ekta, feeling honored, decided to go to the school since the teacher had extended an invitation.
The next day, Ekta visited the school, and upon seeing her, the principal was thrilled. He commended her for the excellent work she was doing at the learning center. The children had praised her, and the school was in need of a math teacher. So, an interview invitation was extended. During the interview, the interview, Ekta was asked to give a demo class. She astounded everyone with her innovative teaching methods. The kids loved it, and the other teachers were equally impressed. After the demo, the school offered Ekta a teaching position, and she gladly accepted. It wasn’t just a job for her; it felt like a duty to give back to her alma mater.
For the past year, Ekta has been joyfully working as a teacher, and her dedication has earned her a promotion to a senior teaching position. Proud of her journey, Ekta sees her role not just as a job but as a meaningful contribution to the educational system of her community.
