Dev: The Right Nudge to Tap One’s Potential

Devshankar was a very restless child and rarely stayed at one place for very long. When asked to sit quietly and listen, he would create havoc and disturb the entire class. Often, he ran away from his studies at the beginning of classes affecting his academic performance.

Our educator noticed that he enjoyed sports and physical activities. One day she went to meet his parents to have a better understanding of Dev’s behavior and came up with a strategy to deal with this situation. The next day, she started the class with physical activities and asked students to do jumping jacks and stretching exercises, to which Dev reacted very positively. He was the first to start the activity and involved other children around him. This helped him to release that unsettled energy and stay calm. After repeating this strategy for a few days Dev joined the classes regularly and started learning things better.

Now Devshankar is one of the brightest in the class. He comes to classes every day and behaves sociably with his peers and teachers. We asked his parents and they were awestruck seeing this change in their son. His father quoted “Who could have thought our son had such potential?! I feel very proud to be his father.”
